چکیده

This work presents a green, downstream process, from extraction to phytochemical characterization and bioactivity testing, obtain evaluate the functional properties of phenolic compounds cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) seeds pods. Phenolic-rich extracts were obtained by pressurized liquid (PLE). The main factors affecting conditions (temperature solvent) optimized in order attain with highest yield, antioxidant capacity, total content. optimal 1:1 ethanol:water at 170 °C one cycle for three cycles Phenolic extract analyzed UHPLC-q-TOF-MS/MS (quadrupole-time flight tandem MS). PLE-extracts exhibited higher content activity compared conventional procedures. vitro anti-neurodegenerative potential was measured through Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibition assay. results revealed observed pod samples seed extracts, which might be related levels quercetin glycosides, kaempferol diglucoside, other tetrahydroxylated flavones flavonols identified these samples. These also provide an added-value benefit cultivation this legume, considering high as nutraceutical ingredients food formulations.

Isolation and Characterization of Four Isoinhibitors from Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) Seeds

Four isoinhibitors of trypsin have been isolated from the cowpea, Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp., in a highly purified state, as indicated by Urea-SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, equilibrium chromatography, and amino acid analysis. The amino acid composition was characterized by the absence of free -SH groups, high half-cysteine, and the absence of tryptophan and methionine in isoinhibito...

Molecular Characterization of Type II Transposable Elements in Cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp]

Previous genetic studies in cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp] have shown that an active bipartite transposable element (TE) is responsible for a range of mutant phenotypes of its leaf, stem and flower. Since type II TEs have not been characterized at the molecular level in cowpea, this study was initiated to survey the presence of type II TEs in the cowpea genome. Type II TEs: Enhancer/Suppr...

Effect of pO(2) on Growth and Nodule Functioning of Symbiotic Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.).

Nodulated cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp. cv Vita 3:Bradyrhizobium CB 756) plants were cultured with their whole root system or crown root nodulation zone maintained for periods from 5 to 69 days after planting in atmospheres containing a range of pO(2) (1-80%, v/v) while the rest of the plant grew in normal air. Growth (dry matter yield) and N(2) fixation were largely unaffected by pO(2) fr...

Assessing genotypic variability of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata [L.] Walp.) to current and projected ultraviolet-B radiation.

The current and projected terrestrial ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation affects growth and reproductive potential of many crops. Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata [L.] Walp.), mostly grown in tropical and sub-tropical regions may already be experiencing critical doses of UV-B radiation due to a thinner ozone column in those regions. Better understanding of genotypic variability to UV-B radiation is a prer...
